Partially Shy is devoted to keeping art accessible. As an organization, we operate off of donations and our drive to curate exceptional work to fulfill the desires of our readers, contributors, and staff. We strive to publish diverse creatives, and work that unearths the new, the innovative, and the evocative.
Our principles as an organization reflect our values as artists:
Services that began as free will remain free for as long as we are operational. Things like general submissions and digital archival access have always been and will always be freely available to the public.
Partially Shy is run by humans. As such, we only accept work by humans. We will not publish anything generated by AI. Likewise, we will never claim we have made something that was actually generated by AI.
The staff at Partially Shy splits all donations/income among its members equally (EiCs, staff, interns). We value each team member's labor the same, regardless of position or time spent on staff.
Partially Shy is many things, but most of all, it is a labor of love. Art is something that all of us hold dear, and we created this magazine to showcase art that moves us. We encourage you to use this space as a creative playground. Take our themes and run with them, fly them like a kite or skip them like a stone. How you go from here is up to you. We beg you: be creative, be messy, be vulnerable. Whether you’re accepted or not, whatever you make is worth something. ART IS NEVER A WASTE.
